Combo Castle (2024) – May the best combo player win

Last modified February 3, 2025 by jarjar

Card games have been flourishing lately, and Castle Combo is part of this trend with its simple but effective concept: build and optimize a 9-card board in a completely open game. Without being complex, the game offers very interesting strategic choices that can lead to particularly rewarding combinations!

GAME FACTS
>> If you look at the backs of the cards, they tell you what colors of cards you can find in either deck. This saves you from having to consult the rulebook when looking for a certain color. Nice touch!
>> Even though a maximum number of 5 players is indicated, the game plays very well with 6 as well. One of the authors tells us on BGG that the authors chose, with the publisher, to indicate a maximum of 5 players on the box in order to avoid a somewhat long first experience for players who are beginners.

MY IMPRESSIONS
I loved :
>> The colorful illustrations.
>> These purses allow you to store the remaining money at the end of the game and obtain points for this money.
>> Fast, tactical and very effective.
>> Nothing new here, but very well done and very entertaining.

I liked less:
>> Spending a key and not upgrading options, especially on the last turn.

A very good filler game, offering very satisfying combos. Fairly simple to explain, but more difficult to master.

FUN FACTOR >> 🙂 🙂 🙂 : )
