FIRST IMPRESSION
The excellent publisher Devir and a new author who is very prolific these days, Dani Garcia (Bacelona, Arbeora, Windwill Valley, …) team up to offer us a big and very colorful game (in the Bitoku range), Daitoshi.
Players find themselves in the shoes of industrial tycoons who take control of the city of Daitoshi, located somewhere in the Japanese countryside. The game takes place in a mythical world on the brink of a steampunk revolution where technology and modernity come into conflict with the ancient laws of nature. As we go to destroy nature to harvest the resources needed to expand the city, the Yokai revolt.
Daitoshi is not a game about building a city; it's a game about the consequences of building a city – and those consequences had to be felt both at the end of the game and during the game, which was a huge challenge.
— The author, Dani Garcia

Although Daitoshi may seem intimidating at first, with its interface loaded with colors and icons and some small typos in its rulebook, it hides a remarkably tasty game, rather original, with combos that can be very profitable and very satisfying. We must build a factory, which we must improve with a rather particular system, it is very pleasant and fun to see it progress.
Report part of December 18, 2024

Louis-Etienne starts producing luxury resources that allow him to visit cities and make profitable trades, for my part, I start improving my factory and use the university quickly to improve productions. I will make 4 productions in total while Louis-Etienne will only make 2. We stay close in points almost the entire game, except towards the 3rd third of the game where Louis-Etienne starts a rather diabolical points machine. I nevertheless manage to overtake it at the very end, but the end-of-game scoring makes him win (with more than 42 points with the river track!). I kept too many exploitation tiles (4) while Louis had managed to clean up well.
Final score: 345 – 314.
Duration of the game: 2H

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I loved :
>> The visual, wow! Very colorful!
>> The superb components, all the details like this little gear which allows us to mark our production towers, magnificent!
>> factory management, with this upgrade mechanic, it's really fun.
>> the careful management of Yokai.
>> The tempo of the game, you never get bored.
I liked less:
>> Part that seems to stretch for nothing, probably would have been perfect with a turn or two less.
>> handling and reading the game difficult at first, but you get used to it.
>> some typos in the rules, some icons are missing in the help.

A game for the experienced player, superbly illustrated, with several interesting options and often very satisfying actions.
FUN FACTOR >> 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
