Overview
Galileo Galilei is a game for 1 to 4 players, where players play as Renaissance astronomers exploring the skies while avoiding the influence of the Inquisition. The core of the game is based on a system of varied and dynamic actions linked to the manipulation of a telescope. Through tactical choices, players make scientific discoveries while improving their abilities and reputation in various academic disciplines. Players must balance scientific progress with religious discretion, as the Inquisition can harm their reputation.
Remarks
It's a game by the same author as SETI, also presented at Essen last year, but this game took a little longer to arrive on our shelves here. Having loved SETI, as you have probably read ;), it was therefore an almost automatic purchase for me, even if it seems significantly lighter.
The author, Thomas Holek, an astronomy enthusiast, wanted the theme not to be just decorative, but to permeate the mechanisms: research, observation, confrontation with obscurantism (represented via the Inquisition in the game). Really looking forward to trying it!
