December 2025 report

Last modified January 6, 2026 by Jarjar

Another great month of games! With the holiday season upon us, it's a perfect time to bring out the little games and card games. I really enjoy this time of year; it's easy to find players within families 😉

Our favorites

Skull KingThe perfect holiday game for families, this is a classic trick-taking game (2012) (Mino Dice as a card game, no less!) that's incredibly effective and that I hadn't had the chance to discover before (Thanks, JP!). It's a lot of fun, a game where the intensity builds and it's absolutely crucial to keep an eye on the other players' bets and try to break them, especially zero bets—making good decisions is key. We really like the bonus point system based on the characters played in each round. I also appreciated the rulebook and the little recipe that comes with it. You can really feel the authors' passion! They even included a phone number if you have any questions about the rules!

Eternal DecksThis game, which was a great discovery for families (thanks JP!), is more complex than a card game but remains accessible (with a little help). It's a very refreshing and fun card game. We all enjoyed the challenge it offers and its presence on the table. There's a lot of content with its multiple levels (AF).

LimitI wrote an article about it. hereThis game has left us with a strong desire to play it again soon to try other ways of managing our nation; a brilliant civilization game, a truly wonderful experience!

Mentions

Mafia de CubaOne of the most popular social deduction games here, every round is memorable and generates lots of discussion and laughter. You have to be a good liar! It's impressive to see the analysis of some of the godfathers! After all these years, it hasn't lost its appeal.

QuorumThis game was a pleasant surprise (after listening to one of the Top des Top podcasts). I wasn't expecting much, and I really enjoyed the multiple ways to score points with the cards. A very clever little game! You only play 12 cards (actions), and Devir really excels with this 12-action system.

Ayar, the children of the sunA three-player game confirmed that it's a good game with a nice touch of originality. The Ayar scoring system is quite unique, and timing is very important. We all enjoyed it, although my partner found it a bit difficult. Article coming soon!

Other honorable mentions: two other parts of the excellent Covenant, including one with 3 characters that made me appreciate the game even more! One of the good games released in 2025.
