Being an avid reader of several excellent gaming blogs and forums, I wanted to give back to this great community. So I started this project in the fall of 2024.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON LANGUAGE
This blog is written in French, the translation into English is done automatically via the paid services of Google Translate (https://gtranslate.io/)
Bloggers spend a lot of time writing long articles, summarizing and often even practically rewriting the rulebooks. Personally, I don't read this kind of text, I usually go straight to the point: what the blogger liked about the game, liked less and the rating given. Being visual, I also love to see pictures of the games.
But hey, if I just took that up, I couldn't call it a blog, so I thought, what can I do differently to this already very rich sphere of playful bloggers?
I thought I'd add some harder-to-find information about the game in question, quoting the authors, developers, and publishers I'm interested in, revealing some new (or almost new) facts, and talking about upcoming developments and expansions.
I also often note in Google doc, points of rules that are easier to forget or details that are not found directly in the rules of a game. You will find these notes in the articles under the heading Points of rules.
Board games are most meaningful when they create an atmosphere. The atmosphere that sets in around the table, made up of shouts of joy and shared laughter, often becomes the true marker of the enjoyment of a game. This emotional factor ultimately determines how easy it will be to get the game out again. That's why, at the end of each review, I include an overall assessment of the "fun factor" - a personal rating that reflects my feelings and those of the players present, aware that this perception can vary considerably depending on the groups and the dynamics of the game.
And finally, this blog reflects my thoughts and is intended above all to be a personal experience. As I enjoy writing and reviewing, it allows me to delve deeper into the games I discover. I like to reread and edit my articles, which I use as a reference when I revisit a game or gaming event. You won't find any games I didn't enjoy on this blog: being a generally enthusiastic person, I don't write negative articles, hence the generally high ratings in my reviews.
I work in the tech field and I like to experiment with tools. Here, I use WordPress and several plugins, all hosted at home on a tiny Raspberry PI, which also allows me to have fun in other ways =)
I hope you enjoy this format!
